Topic: Optimizing Flat and Long Product Quality Through Systematic Application of AI

Abstract: Quality and cost optimizations of individual manufacturing steps of long and flat steel products is still an ongoing effort where non-disruptive approaches for further improvements have almost reached their technical limits. While applications of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) pushes the limits of those optimizations, their localized application to individual steelmaking steps restrict their potential. Smart Steel Technologies (SST) introduced automated holistic process optimization to significantly improve the quality of long and flat products by utilizing the information from upstream and downstream channels for all products.
