SST had the great pleasure toin Eisenhüttenstadt. Together with the project partner Unitechnik Systems GmbH, we had the chance to participate in the installation of the camera system for the automated slab inspection.

The underlying surface inspection system was developed by SST. It is the first system capable of capturing a full image of a hot slab (900°C) from both sides.

The hardware installation will be completed this year. The 𝘚𝘚𝘛 𝘚𝘶𝘳𝘧𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘈𝘐 system will then be trained to recognise crucial defects such as grinding marks (from the casting rollers) and flammable residues (from the flame cutter).Following the calibration of the inspection system, the team was given the unique opportunity to experience the impressive start of the casting process in Eisenhüttenstadt and to test the inspection system immediately.
