Smart Steel Technologies @ EEC 2024

13th European Electric Steelmaking Conference - 2024, June 3 to 7

Smart Steel Technologies @ EEC 2024:

Otmar Jannasch, PhD presented on 'Temperature Control in Steelmaking Reduces Energy Consumption and Stabilizes the Process'

Abstract:

Efficiency and sustainability are vital in steelmaking amidst technological advancements and strict regulations. Advanced process control, particularly through a combination of experience, empirical models, and AI algorithms, is key to adapting to industry changes. Smart Steel Technologies' temperature control software exemplifies this approach, successfully implemented at the Çolakoğlu Steelmaking Plant. Covering the entire steelmaking process, the software utilizes machine-learning models based on plant data to efficiently reduce superheat and overall temperature, thus cutting energy costs and improving process stability.
