ArcelorMittal Duisburg commissions the AI company Smart Steel Technologies to introduce its software "SST Temperature Optimization AI" at its highly specialized steel plant. The software solution is integrated live in the production process and ensures precise temperature control from BOF to continuous casting. Process stability is also maximized across all stations. Thus, ArcelorMittal Duisburg minimizes temperature buffers and will lower the temperature in production, leading to permanent energy cost savings. Reduced CO2 emission costs savings through increased process stability. Integration of the software will take three months. The project goal is achieved after a test and optimization phase of another three months. Hence, ArcelorMittal Duisburg will benefit from a significant cost reduction within a very short time.
"In an economically challenging situation, we consciously invest in the optimization of our temperature control using Artificial Intelligence technology. This will allow ArcelorMittal Duisburg to further increase process stability and reduce energy costs. The software is installed in a minimally invasive way. The installation effort is limited.", states Dr. Mathias Lüttenberg, Steel Plant Manager at ArcelorMittal Duisburg GmbH.
